What are the first sounds that you hear when you wake up in the morning?

Is it magic or annoying?

Strange when snow falls, there is silence.

The first sound that I heard today was the chirping of birds or the whirring of wings, somewhere a cock crows. Then the hum of traffic emerges. The church clock strikes the hour

Perhaps a car door slams and an engine revs…I live in a town. Sometimes the blare of police sirens breaks the stillness, or lorry sounds go past my window. ( I’m sleeping in the noise due to the heat). Usually I sleep in the mill room across the garden…heaven in cooler weather, silent with walls three feet thick.

Now footsteps shuffle past, and cars unload sometimes, as there is building work next door; heavy drilling shatters the air, sometimes shouting.

In Australia, I woke up to the bush…the best sound in the world. In Italy, the Cicadas by the sea.

Perhaps a storm may wake you occasionally or the patter of rain on a window.
