Money, Money, Money And Romance

May romance blossom into love…
It should be forever.

Who should pay for a date?

Call me old-fashioned, but I believe the guy should invite and pay for the lady on the first few dates.
By all means split the bill, but bad manners for a guy to present the lady with a belated bill…Show him the door!
I did use dating agency forms in a class, that was popular. I never filled one in!
One very likeable Italian got a date. The date went well, even though the whole class turned up to see how the date went in the pub. The couple did continue dating, of course they didn’t inform me till after the event. LOL
If I were that lady I may well have been embarrassed. It was a small class of about ten people.
That was a crowd!
All taken in good humor…

Personally I think many society weddings are over the top…divorces often cost far more, too.
Ok I’m not rich but I would only invite a few close friends to a small wedding.
What would you do?

Have you ever been on a blind date?

If Everyone Cared

Would the world be a better place if everyone cared?
The art of giving…is it an art?
Or would some take advantage?

It is heartwarming if you receive an act of kindness. Both humans and animals have the quality of kindness.
However, I became puzzled at this news item about Orca whales.

Why are Orcas giving humans presents?

I have to say I haven’t always been pleased to accept some gifts. A neighbor’s cat kept dropping dead birds on my doormat…that was horrible.
However, when my dog looked quizzically at me one day and gave me his bone to eat, I realized it meant a lot to offer a smelly bone, and he was delighted I accepted it.

Is present-giving always an act of kindness? I’m afraid not!
Remember, the Trojan horse masked an attack. Remember receiving gifts from an unsuitable suitor…ugh.
I am guilty of giving on occasion to achieve a goal. I have given my difficult director a present that he loved to calm troubled waters…it worked.
And yet, two families sort of adopted me and gave me a home when I needed one…an appreciated selfless act.
The first occasion was…I viewed an apartment I couldn't afford, it was beautiful. The couple sat me down with a cup of tea… Do you like it? I explained I did but it was somewhat out of my means.
The reply was…We like you, you may have the apartment for six months and only pay the phone and utilities till you get on your feet. That was a family I became part of.
The guy was a famous writer who had escaped Poland in the war, and was proud to have twenty of us around his Christmas dinner table, as well as his own family.

The Buddha said…
If you are given a present and you don’t accept it, who does it belong to?

The ritual of present giving at Christmas or Easter is not one that is always enjoyable. It’s become commercial, and sometimes an unwanted pressure of giving, when perhaps you are financially stretched and maybe not really have a good relationship with someone.

Hot Air

Too much hot air…

Summer has come, my childhood memories are lovely sunny days playing with water in the garden. Balmy days, and summer fruits picked from our garden.

Two summers ago, the country I live in had temperatures of 46 C.
Summers are becoming unbearably hot, already we are in the hundred degree zone.
How to stay cool is now a challenge.

Some of our roads melt, and there is always the risk of fire.

Tempers appear to fray in the hot weather, so stay cool, post music.

America and  Canada have also been hit with summer heat.
I didn’t believe in global warming some years ago, but it seems to be our blue planet is experiencing hotter weather.

Stay cool…

Good And Bad Employers - Most Of Us Have Had Them

Work love it or hate it? What was your experience?
What was your opinion of some of your bosses? Were they good or unpleasant? Were you ever sacked? Did you ever choose to be self employed? What was your best job, worst job.? What was your work experience like?
Some animals enjoy work, and other animals are trained in a cruel manner in circuses.

I found an interesting video that was an amazing story of a guy who was sacked, and it made me think of the saying…Revenge is a dish best served cold…so true!

Boss Fired Me After 17 Years With No Warning; But I Knew Something They Didn't...

About half of our lives is spent working, best to pick a career wisely. My worst job was as a waitress, my best self employed as an artist…I worked hard and my success was like treading on air, running at full speed…a great success.
When I first hit the job market, I was a Saturday Girl in a hairdresser. I was still at school.
I loved that job. They were a good crowd of girls and the boss was very good.
I always jumped to obey, cleaning mirrors, shampooing, running round. I enjoyed the first day so much I forgot to take my pay home. It was the time of the Twist and the girls at the hairdressers were all into the great music of that time. That was a great era, got my hair done at my Saturday job, I had a little money and enjoyed spending it.

My work days were somewhat chequered at the beginning. Work was hard to find.
I left school early with quite a poor education, after not a very happy home life; that was due to a new step father and difficult mother.
I was sitting on a door step homeless. A young man approached and I went for a drink with him. He lived in a large house and said I could stay there. There were three teens living there, my age, and their mother, a film director, was away filming. When she returned, she gave me a job cooking an evening meal, and I had an evening job as a waitress. That didn’t last that long as a waitress. I got the sack. LOL.
After a while, I picked a job from a newspaper in Italy teaching two Italian children English…The father was American and the mother Italian. They didn’t speak English to their father, a rich business man in America, with a beautiful apartment in Rome and a house on Nantucket island. It was the top job in the agency and I got it. I went to learn Italian when the children were at school, was pulled out of the class as they needed English teachers, did a one months course and so after nearly two years in Rome, began a teaching career.
I took part in a movie with the film director that I kept in touch with. It was a film about narrow boats, so my love of boats began.
