Most of all it was a time when people had money to spend,a time of freedom,and exotic pets.
It was a renaissance of art,music,fashion,and physcodelic color,and exotic pets.Harrods was a classy place to shop,you could buy or order anything in Harrods even an elephant.
There were up and coming authors,movies, like Easy rider,Breakfast at Tiffanys.It was a time of optimism.
Last week John Rendell died and many of his photos of Christian the lion were sold.Christian the lion is a winderful tru story.
When shopping in Harrods…
John and his partner Antony Ace Bourke fell in love with a lion cub called Christian.Christian was born in captivity.They took him home.He lived in their apartment,until he outgrew it and moved into the basement of their shop in the Kings road.He exercised in a public garden,and could be seen riding in their car or walking on a leash.Gradually Christian outgrew London and Virginia McKenna offered him a hone in the countryside,but he outgrew that too the only option was to try to introduce Christian into a National park in Kenya.Virginia McKenna was in a movie called ‘Born Free’ about a lion cub called Elsa who was successfully introduced into the wild the story of George Adamson the only man who lived with and understood lions.Christian the lion is the story of a tame lion and his transition to leadership of a wild pride of lions.p in Kenya,A lion whomhad had his own bed with a pillow when camping,
Large cats are incredibly beautiful,Ive always loved them!especially white tigers which are rare,one is born every hundred years.Panthers are graceful too.A Safari in Africa would be an exciting venture.Perhaps one day.So the theme is lions,tigers panthers,exotic pets,and music artists,musicians from the sixties.Exotic pets you may have had.

I once made a film about canals and wrote about some of the bridges.Some canals had long bridges specially for boats.
The stepping stones pictured were scary to cross.

Home Sweet Home….Renaudvations on a derelict house with an old room that had once been part of a mill.Thatsbthe white room with arches.
Many of you know I bought a derelict house in really bad condition.My cousin and I rented an apartment as we were doing an exhibition of Art.
Someone broke into our rented accomodation and stole our money,so we went to stay with a friend.My friends father had a house for sale with a large room.We went to see the house and it had possibilities.We hadnt thought of buying a house.
My friend said do a deal with my father.The house was very cheap, but not great condition.It was an offer we could not refuse, had to put a deposit,but we had had our money stolen,so I put a deposit of 50$ with my credit card,with three years to pay.If we were short on the price the house would be returned to my friends father on the three year time limit.
We paid in one year and eight months.Lots of luck,and lots of work to pay.I had three jobs,tying for a publisher,tutoring two boys.
tutoring two boys and exhibitions.the writing desk was peeling and yellowed ith age urned o white.
In the last few years house prices increased,and with all the work its now worth a lot.
All the furniture apart from the kitchen units was recycled.Some thrown out,some second hand and some from scrap yards,
I took up tiling and mosaicking,which I love as well as painting furniture.tiled the kitchen,two bathrooms and a yard.The blue piece in the kitchen was painted with glue before coloor that really was falling apart.I tiled the yard,Im inspired by the east,and Morocco.Its a house of character that no-one wanted because of the work
