The Romans associsted the hot summers with the Dog Star,Sirius.To appease Sirius they sacrificed a brown dog,hence the expression ‘Dog Day Afternoon’,meaning lazy,hot,summer days.
We would be lost without some working dogs; herders,trackers,sight dogs,help dogs,parachuting dogs,Sniffer dogs,gueard dogs,even some are companions or family members.
